Cardiff COVID 19 Heroes

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

We all know a key worker, friend or family member who has made a difference during Covid-19- but may not have gotten the credit they deserve.

Now is your chance to say thank you by nominating them to be one of the Top 10 ‘Cardiff Covid 19 Heroes’.

We are working with internationally recognised artist and Cardiff boy Nathan Wyburn who will paint the 10 winner’s portraits. Those portraits will then be blown up and displayed in the windows of Cardiff city centre and the winners will be presented with their portrait to keep.

Please nominate the person who has touched your life – or someone who deserves a pat on the back. It could be a NHS worker who has cared for your loved ones, the selfless hospice worker, the local volunteer who litter picks your street every day or your friend the teacher who has helped your kids via daily Zoom lessons through lock down.

FOR Cardiff are partnering with Cardiff Museum to ensure that the stories shared help record how the people of Cardiff reacted to and were impacted by Covid-19 . The submissions will be available for use and research by the museum and public for generations to come.

It really can be any Cardiff resident who has been your Covid-19 Hero, just tell us what they did and exactly why you think they would make a worthy winner.

Nominations can only be for something that has happened in 2020 and related to Covid-19.

Nominations terms & conditions

Winners must be Cardiff residents and can be any age, however if the winner is under 18, we will need the permission of their parent(s) or a responsible adult to use their image for the portrait.

Winners will be chosen by the FOR Cardiff judging panel from a list which will be downloaded from the online submission page. The team will consider every nomination received and their decision is final.

By submitting to enter the competition the individual agrees that the relevant info (not address, phone or email) can be shared via any FOR Cardiff channels, even if their nomination is not a winner as FOR Cardiff may chose to highlight some of the other entries who weren’t successful but are still worthy of mention.

Individuals may only submit one nomination.

Images provided or sourced at a later date will need to be of an appropriate quality and free of copyright restrictions to allow the artist to create their portrait, if appropriate images cannot be provided then another winner will be selected.

There is no need to ask the nominees permission before nominating, FOR Cardiff will check with the individual before the portrait is commissioned and will not go ahead if not permitted.

Nominations can only be for something that has happened in 2020 related to COVID-19.

Information you submit as part of the nomination may be shared via social media and any media release as part of the submission.

The judging panel chooses who they feel are the most deserving winners, the number of nominations received will not be taken into account.

Nominations close at 11.59pm on 12th June 2020.

By nominating someone you agree to FOR Cardiff forwarding your submission to the Museum of Cardiff for possible inclusion in their collection. The submissions will be used to help record how the people of Cardiff reacted to and were impacted by Covid-19 and will be available for use and research by the museum and public for generations to come.

Personal Data will be processed in accordance with the FOR Cardiff Privacy Policy which is available on request.
