We’re recruiting for an enthusiastic and driven Projects Manager to help with the delivery of our public realm and environmental projects. If you’re passionate about Cardiff city centre and are  looking for an opportunity to help the city and its businesses become greener and cleaner then this is the role for you.

Job Title: Projects Manager

Responsible to: Head of Projects and Engagement

Salary: £30,000pa with a bonus of up to 4% related to performance against set KPIs

Other Benefits: Optional BUPA healthcare, (non contractual) access to company shared Laguna Pool & Gym passes

Annual Leave Entitlement: 25 days per year plus all bank holidays with extra leave for long service

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday – some occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Contract Type: Fixed term to November 2026

Location: FOR Cardiff offices as the main workplace. An agile working policy is in place following the completion of a successful probation period but this post will require regular physical attendance in the FOR Cardiff area

Job Purpose:

You will be a practical operational lead for projects across the organisation, supporting colleagues as well as managing external contracts. There will be a focus on promoting and delivering our environmental and public realm project work

Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage the operational and contractual relationship for our additional cleansing work and other city centre projects, leading on tasking, reviewing work undertaken and planning future work programmes
  • Lead on the delivery of projects aiming to make the FOR Cardiff area a more sustainable business location.
  • Identify and report and public realm issues using relationships with other stakeholders including South Wales Police, Cardiff Council’s City Centre Management, Highways, Outreach and cleansing teams
  • To attend and provide an input into any stakeholder operational meetings leading on any actions FOR Cardiff are tasked with completing
  • To provide practical operational support with other members of the team on FOR Cardiff’s ‘on street’ activities such as events and installations
  • To be the lead for any transport related projects and queries including bike parking and storage, taxi ranks, car parking related projects and cargo bike / last mile initiatives.
  • Represent FOR Cardiff as appropriate at external events which may include networking events, conferences, multi-stakeholder meetings and any other relevant formats
  • Act as an advocate for the work of FOR Cardiff across the city centre
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably required

 Person Specification / Key Skills Required:


  • A qualification at degree level or higher, or equivalent experience
  • A person who is able to manage a diverse portfolio of projects
  • A strong communicator, with an ability to engage, listen to, and inform local stakeholders about complex issues and develop strong partnerships with external organisations.
  • Be well informed on key industry issues relevant to environmental and green initiatives through research and proactive awareness
  • A passionate environmentally conscious person, who leads by example, and who wants to make a real local impact on a high-profile city centre
  • Someone who has a broad base of knowledge about different environmental sustainability agendas and can translate this into effective action within FOR Cardiff area, through innovative, thoughtful and engaging projects and services
  • A creative and collaborative person who can help shape ideas, constructively challenge and inform a wide audience, working collaboratively with our member businesses, taking our staff team, local businesses and stakeholders along.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to convey and absorb often complex information and processes
  • Clear and confident communication skills
  • Computer literate with good MS Office skills
  • Ability to work under your own initiative
  • Pro-active approach to problem solving
  • Socially confident, personable, and approachable


  • Experience of delivering contemporary environmental initiatives in a work environment
  • Ability to communicate in Welsh
  • Knowledge of city centre / placemaking issues and trends
  • Experience of managing external contracts
