It’s a Yes!

We’re delighted to announce that businesses across Cardiff have voted yes to a new five-year term for FOR Cardiff, delivering the best BID ballot result ever recorded in Wales.

With 92% of businesses voting ‘yes’ by number and 97% by rateable value, this record-breaking result is a huge vote of confidence in our work and what we can achieve together.

From December 2026, we’ll begin an exciting new chapter as we expand to include Cardiff Bay, bringing together two of the capital’s key commercial destinations under one shared vision. Together, we’ll continue to champion our business community, invest in the places that matter most and deliver projects that make Cardiff an even better place to work, live and visit.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to every business that took the time to vote. Your support, engagement and belief in our vision means we can continue working on behalf of businesses across the city for another five years.

We’re incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved together over the last decade, and we’re even more excited about what’s to come. We can’t wait to get started on delivering our ambitious plans.

Here are the simple steps that you need to follow to vote for FOR Cardiff

Due to the heatwave and the postal service experiencing delays, we advise that in this final week any remaining ballots are NOT POSTED and instead our free courier service is used. Let us know where your ballots are by emailing info@forcardiff.com – an independent courier will pick up your envelopes on the 2nd July and ensure they reach the relevant authority before the deadline.

How to vote:

  • You should receive one ballot paper for each property (hereditament) that you are eligible to vote for by post.
  • Please check that each ballot paper has its own return envelope.
  • Complete the ballot paper by putting a cross (X) beside your choice to retain the FOR Cardiff for another five-year term or not.
  • In block capitals, write your name and position in your business, and sign your ballot paper.
  • Each ballot paper must be returned in its own separate envelope. Please do not put multiple papers in one envelope.
  • The BID arrangements outlined in the business plan will come into force if the following two criteria are met: more than 50% of hereditaments that vote cast that vote in favour; and that total rateable value of the hereditaments that vote in favour is over 50%
  • Make sure our team knows where the courier needs to pick up your ballot(s) from on Thursday 2nd July.

Is my vote confidential?

The ballot return process is managed independently so FOR Cardiff does not see how any business or organisation has voted.
