Member Relations Manager
We’re seeking a Member Relations Manager to join our team. Your role will involve developing and implementing the annual action plan for our Member Relations workstream, responsible for bringing Cardiff businesses together. You will be responsible for the management of the Business Engagement team, ensuring strong relationships are built and maintained with businesses and organisations. Your focus will be on ensuring that businesses are well-informed about FOR Cardiff’s work and can fully participate and engage in projects.
FOR Cardiff is a Business Improvement District (BID) and engagement is crucial to the success of us as an organisation. The Member Relations Manager will help FOR Cardiff achieve and deliver on our 2021-26 business plan through engaging effectively with FOR Cardiff’s membership of over 800 businesses and ensuring they see a return on their investment.

Job Title: Member Relations Manager

Key Responsibilities:
- Drive forward a strategic and systematic approach to engaging effectively with FOR Cardiff’s membership of more than 800 businesses, increasing awareness of our programme.
- Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders and partners to find new ways of spreading awareness of FOR Cardiff’s offer as widely as possible.
- Management of the Member Relations Workstream ensuring that all areas of the programme are delivered on budget and within the agreed timeline.
- Managing the Member Relations working group ensuring a strong membership and skill set spread from member businesses representatives.
- Reporting on the Member Relations workstream to the SLT and Board.
- Ensuring the Member Relations workstream continue to align with the company’s strategy priorities and working with colleagues to ensure the work of the workstream compliments the work done elsewhere in the business.
- Manage the day-to-day operations and development of the Business Engagement Officers
- Champion all FOR Cardiff’s services to members to ensure they see value for their membership.
- Monitor adoption of services and report on depth and breadth of engagement.
- Work with all work streams to increase opportunities for member engagement.
- Work with the team to ensure FOR Cardiff’s services adapt to changing business needs and response new business priorities.
- Manage the CRM system, developing new ways of using and reporting data, including the migration of all member data to the CRM system.
- Working with colleagues develop and manage a programme of events that provide opportunities for FOR Cardiff members and their staff to build their networking and make connections, maximising attendance.
- Ensure the programme of events engages, informs and inspires, appealing to the diverse range of businesses in the city centre, across a spectrum of sector and sizes.
- Play a pivotal role in planning and implementing the 2026 ballot process and campaigns in order to secure a majority yes vote from member businesses.
- Represent FOR Cardiff as appropriate at external events which may include networking events, conferences, multi-stakeholder meetings and any other relevant formats.
- Be well informed on key industry issues relevant to business portfolio.
- Review the need for new/updated collateral to support engagement with membership.
- Support development of the ballot proposal document in future ballots

- Able to confidently network and develop positive and productive working relationships with FOR Cardiff members, partners and stakeholders.
- An excellent communicator with a friendly and professional manner via telephone, email and face to face meetings.
- Able to prioritise and manage own workload, working under own initiative.

Relevant Experience & Qualifications:
- Previous line management experience
- Previous experience of account management and/or developing customer relationships Able to use creativity to design an engaging events programme for businesses and their employees.
- Experience of working with CRM systems.
- Experience arranging and administrating meetings.
- Confident user of standard MS Office software packages.
- Strong administrative skills.
- Good knowledge of Cardiff city centre
- Understanding of Business Improvement Districts.
Place Management Manager (Maternity Cover)
We are looking for a dynamic and creative Place Management Manager to join our team for a Maternity Cover position. Reporting to the CEO, your role will involve leading our place management programme ensuring that key projects, such as the cleansing team, remain as an exemplar, and delivering a new initiative to promote independent businesses and reduce single-use coffee cups in the city. FOR Cardiff is the Business Improvement District for Cardiff city centre – a private not-for-profit organisation, funded by 800+ member businesses. FOR Cardiff aims to enhance Cardiff city centre through the delivery of projects, campaigns and events. Job Purpose: FOR Cardiff is one of the biggest Business Improvement District’s (BID) in the UK with over 700 business members from sectors varying from hospitality, retail to offices. As a result, the demands for us to provide excellent place management are crucial and an essential part of our overall offering to the city and our businesses.
The Place Management Manager will lead the place management programme ensuring that key projects such as the cleansing team and night marshals remain as an exemplar, as well as forging forward with newer initiatives in the recycling and greening space for the benefit of FOR Cardiff’s members and users of the city centre.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Place Management workstream programme and budget including development and delivery of annual plan that aligns with the FOR Cardiff vision and strategy and delivers value to our members.
- Managing the Place Management working group ensuring a strong membership and skill set spread from member businesses representatives.
- Reporting on the Place Management Workstream to the SLT and Board.
- Management of the cleansing team and night marshal contract ensuring it is adhered to, reported on and remains a good return on investment.
- Work with the Business Crime Reduction Manager on the city-wide responses to ASB and other crime related initiatives.
- Provide solutions to the challenges facing businesses when it comes to engaging with net zero and reducing carbon emissions across business operations.
- Work with colleagues and procured partners, coordinating the business support, trainings and events for clean and green initiatives.
- Collaborate with partners and organisations like the Night Forum to coordinate an organised response to the challenges facing the city and businesses in the nighttime economy.
- Explore opportunities to develop the programme, either directly coordinated or through partnerships.
- To manage the procured partners and contractors delivering the project, ensuring the project runs on time and within budget.
- Explore opportunities to raise additional funding.
