Evening and Night-time Economy Business Engagement Officer

We are looking for an Evening and Night-time Economy Business Engagement Officer to join our Business Engagement Team. You will be responsible for ensuring that FOR Cardiff member businesses receive a return on their investment by engaging with them on projects such as The Card, Safe Places, and CityNet Radio.

Job Title: Business Engagement Officer – Evening and night-time economy 

Responsible to: Member Relations Manager 

Salary: £26,827pa pro rata with a bonus of up to 4% related to performance against set KPIs 

Other Benefits: Optional Vitality private healthcare, Cycle to Work scheme 

Annual Leave Entitlement: 25 days per year plus all bank holidays  

Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Core hours 9am-5:30pm Monday to Friday. Evening and weekend working will be required, shift pattern to be agreed in advance 

Location: FOR Cardiff offices as the main workplace but with regular meetings at city centre businesses. An agile working policy is in place following the completion of a successful probation period.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and own relationships with an Evening and Nighttime Economy FOR Cardiff levy payers 
  • Ensure levy payers receive a return on their investment in FOR Cardiff and aware of the opportunities that BID membership provides 
  • Pro-actively target historically disengaged levy payers to raise awareness of FOR Cardiff and create pro-active members 
  • Act as a conduit for feedback and recommendations from levy payers to the FOR Cardiff management team 
  • Act as an advocate for the work of FOR Cardiff across the city centre 
  • Communicate effectively with levy payers across multiple sectors and at various levels of seniority 
  • Ability to use a range of different communication methods to engage with members, identifying new methods where necessary 
  • Maintain accurate records of relationships and ensure key points of contact are up to date 
  • Support levy payers with day-to-day issues wherever possible, within the scope of FOR Cardiff’s business plan and area of responsibility.  
  • When required, liaise with third party organisations (e.g., the council, charities, and training providers) to implement positive changes for levy payers and the city centre.  
  • Work in partnership with other groups that champion Cardiff’s evening and night-time economy e.g. the Night Forum 
  • Represent FOR Cardiff as appropriate at external events which may include networking events, conferences, multi-stakeholder meetings and any other relevant formats 
  • Assist in specific project delivery as tasked by the Management Team 
  • Be well informed and keep up to date with key industry issues relevant to business portfolio 
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably required 

Key Skills: 

Essential 

  • Previous experience of account management and/or customer service management 
  • Previous experience working within the evening and nighttime economy 
  • Clear and confident communication skills including experience of presenting 
  • The ability to network with stakeholders of varying levels of seniority 
  • Knowledge of the evening and nighttime economy and the challenges and opportunities that it faces 
  • Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail  
  • Computer literate with good MS Office skills and ideally experience of a web-based database 
  • Ability to work under your own initiative 
  • Pro-active approach to problem solving 
  • Socially confident, personable, and approachable. 

Desirable 

  • An existing network within Cardiff’s evening and night time economy 
  • Ability to communicate in Welsh

Place Management Manager

We are looking for a dynamic and creative Place Management Manager to join our team for a Maternity Cover position. Reporting to the CEO, your role will involve leading our place management programme ensuring that key projects, such as the cleansing team, remain as an exemplar, and delivering a new initiative to promote independent businesses and reduce single-use coffee cups in the city.

Job Purpose:  FOR Cardiff is one of the biggest Business Improvement District’s (BID) in the UK with over 700 business members from sectors varying from hospitality, retail to offices. As a result, the demands for us to provide excellent place management are crucial and an essential part of our overall offering to the city and our businesses.  

The Place Management Manager will lead the place management programme ensuring that key projects such as the cleansing team and night marshals remain as an exemplar, as well as forging forward with newer initiatives in the recycling and greening space for the benefit of FOR Cardiff’s members and users of the city centre.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and manage the Place Management workstream programme and budget including development and delivery of annual plan that aligns with the FOR Cardiff vision and strategy and delivers value to our members. 
  • Managing the Place Management working group ensuring a strong membership and skill set spread from member businesses representatives.  
  • Reporting on the Place Management Workstream to the SLT and Board. 
  • Management of the cleansing team and night marshal contract ensuring it is adhered to, reported on and remains a good return on investment.  
  • Work with the Business Crime Reduction Manager on the city-wide responses to ASB and other crime related initiatives. 
  • Provide solutions to the challenges facing businesses when it comes to engaging with net zero and reducing carbon emissions across business operations. 
  • Work with colleagues and procured partners, coordinating the business support, trainings and events for clean and green initiatives.  
  • Collaborate with partners and organisations like the Night Forum to coordinate an organised response to the challenges facing the city and businesses in the nighttime economy.  
  • Explore opportunities to develop the programme, either directly coordinated or through partnerships. 
  • To manage the procured partners and contractors delivering the project, ensuring the project runs on time and within budget. 
  • Explore opportunities to raise additional funding. 

 Personal Specification 

  • A creative thinker with demonstrable experience of bringing forward innovative solutions to challenges.  
  • Able to communicate professionally and confidently to a range of stakeholders. 
  • A strong team player with experience of partnership working. 
  • Appreciation of the challenges and opportunities facing cities and Wales.  
  • Knowledge of issues facing cities ranging from operational to government  
  • Initiative-taking and self-motivated, ability to prioritise own workload and to work to tight deadlines. 
  • Interest in Cardiff as an area to live, work and visit. 

Relevant Experience & Qualifications: 

  • Evident of experience managing complex projects and reporting at a Board level 
  • Project/operations management, business planning and budget management skills. 
  • An understanding of Business Improvement Districts, local and central government and their structures and relationships.
