International Women’s Day is a moment to recognise, celebrate and uplift the women who shape our communities.
This year, Cardiff city centre is full of meaningful ways to mark the occasion. Whether you’re looking to network, nominate an unsung hero, explore inspiring art or simply gather the important women in your life around the table, here are some wonderful ways to celebrate in the heart of the city.

Discover Gwen John: Strange Beauties at National Museum Cardiff
One of Wales’ most extraordinary female artists takes centre stage this International Women’s Day.
Gwen John: Strange Beauties celebrates the 150th birthday of Gwen John, bringing together rarely seen works and collections from around the world. It’s the first major collection of her work in over forty years – a once-in-a-generation exhibition.
Gwen John saw the world quietly, attentively and with extraordinary depth. That difference shaped her subjects, her colours, her method and her words. This exhibition reveals new ways of seeing her life and art, celebrating a vision that still feels strikingly modern today.
An invitation to slow down, look closer and see the world through Gwen’s eyes, an unmissable exhibition for newcomers and devoted admirers alike.

They’re inviting the public to nominate a woman who deserves to be recognised and treated as a thank you for everything she does. It only takes a minute to complete the nomination form, simply share who she is and why she deserves to be celebrated.
It’s a beautiful way to spotlight the women whose impact might otherwise go unnoticed.
