February Half Term in Cardiff: Fun Things to Do with the Family

Half term is almost here, and whether you’re searching for fun things to do in Cardiff city centre, planning activities for the kids, or looking for ideas whatever the Cardiff weather, there’s plenty happening to fill the school holidays with fun.

After Dark: Science on Show at National Museum Cardiff

For an evening activity with a difference, head to National Museum Cardiff on the 18th February for this free, hands-on science and engineering event. Spread across three floors, families can explore interactive stalls, live demonstrations and engaging talks. From mammoth discoveries and candle making to astronomy sessions, brain games and 3D printing, there’s something to spark curiosity at every turn. A full programme will be announced soon. Book your tickets.

Kids Eat Free

A family day out doesn’t have to break the bank. Throughout half term, several city centre favourites are offering kids eat free deals, making it easier to enjoy lunch or dinner out as part of your day.

Participating venues include:

  • Banana Tree
  • Bill’s
  • Pizza Express
  • Las Iguanas
  • Frankie & Benny’s
  • YO! Sushi
  • Zizzi’s

Be sure to check directly with each venue for full details and offer timings.

Lush Workshops

Lush Cardiff is hosting interactive read-along workshops where children can create their own bath product to take home. Sessions run across the week, including bilingual English and Welsh workshops on Monday 16 and Friday 20 February at 10am, with additional English sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 10am and 3pm.

For £10 per person, children can enjoy a lively story session featuring favourites such as The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom and The Tiger Who Came to Tea before making their own handmade creation and heading home with a goodie bag. Adults can also book optional pampering treatments during the workshop, making it a treat for everyone. Advance booking is recommended. Book your tickets here.

Treetop Golf

If the Cardiff weather isn’t cooperating, Treetop Golf offers colourful indoor fun with extended half term opening hours. Alongside jungle-themed mini golf, families can enjoy free face painting, arts and crafts, and a photobooth to capture the family fun. FOR Cardiff members can also receive 10% off adventurer tickets Monday to Friday.

The Great Daffodil Appeal Puzzle Trail

Taking place across Morgan and Royal Arcades, this free family puzzle trail supports Marie Curie’s 40th Great Daffodil Appeal. Pick up a sticker sheet from Pen and Paper, follow the puzzle pieces through the arcades and once completed, collect a limited-edition anniversary print designed by a local illustrator.

The trail runs Monday 16 to Saturday 21 February from 10am to 4pm. While free to enter, donations are encouraged to support Marie Curie’s vital end-of-life care services. Limited prints are available each day. Donate here.

From hands-on workshops and science evenings to family dining deals and indoor adventures, there are plenty of things to do in Cardiff this February half term. Whatever the Cardiff weather brings, the city centre is full of ways to keep little ones entertained and make the most of the school break.
