Welcome to a special concert that is essentially the highlights from some of the greatest operas ever written – the moments in an opera that bring the house down with music from CarmenAidaSamson and DelilahTurandotCavalleria rusticanaLa bohème and more besides.

And who can forget Nessun Dorma as the theme of the 1990 World Cup in Italy, or the Intermezzo from Cavalleria rusticana on the soundtrack of Martin Scorsese’s Raging Bull starring Robert de Niro.

Experience the passion of Puccini, the grandeur of Verdi, the wit of Offenbach, the fervour of Saint-Saens and lots, lots more.

Rachael Marsh – Soprano (of Dennis O’Neill CBE’s Welsh International Academy of Voice) 

Rachael Marsh is a full lyric soprano from North Wales studying her masters in the Welsh International Academy of Voice with Dennis O’Neill CBE.

She is a previous finalist of Llangollen International Eisteddfod’s Voice of the Future 2018 competition. Rachael has previously performed in many productions alongside North Wales Opera Studio under Anne Williams-King including singing the title role of Suor Angelica in St George’s Hall, Liverpool.  She has also sung alongside Rhos Male Voice choir in Ripon Music Festival, Wrexham Symphony Orchestra in their annual Proms in the Park events and Flat Pack Opera Company in Ellesmere Port.

Rachael is looking forward to making her Cardiff performance debut with Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra in the beautiful St David’s Hall.

 

Andrew Rawlings – Tenor (of Dennis O’Neill CBE’s Welsh International Academy of Voice)

Barcelona-born tenor Andrew Rawlings studied at the Liceu Conservatoire in Barcelona as an Erasmus scholar. He subsequently studied with Chris Turner at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

In September 2019, Andrew joined the Welsh International Academy of Voice to study with Dennis O’Neill CBE. He has sung a range of choral solos including Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Mozart’s Coronation Mass.

Andrew has also explored a range of operatic roles including Candide (Bernstein), Sempronio (Haydn’s Lo Speziale), Armed Guard (Mozart’s Magic Flute) and Henry Crawford (Jonathon Dove’s Mansfield Park). He also enjoys being a concert soloist – most recently having performed in Leicester’s De Montford Hall.
