Tchaikovsky’s barnstorming symphony traverses a personal journey from darkness to light, despair to triumph, and its recurring ‘Fate’ motif winds its way through each movement before appearing in the guise of a march in the blazing finale. The unique musical landscape of Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir launches this concert.
