FOR Cardiff’s City Ambition Fund 2026 is Open for Applications
The City Ambition Fund is the way FOR Cardiff awards funding to external projects and partners that support our aims for the city. For 2026 the City Ambition Fund is aligned with the aims of our environmental, social, and governance, strategy.
We are looking to award up to £5,000 to support city centre projects that contribute to the overall goals of the strategy, we would also be happy to support projects that respond to a more specific action in the strategy. You can read the full strategy here.
The specific goals of our ESG strategy are:
- A more prosperous Cardiff
- A more resilient Cardiff
- A more equal Cardiff
- A globally responsible Cardiff
- A Cardiff of thriving culture and Welsh language
- A Cardiff of cohesive communities
- A healthier Cardiff
We’re keen to hear from a wide variety of projects and we want to fund bold new ideas as well as concepts with a proven record. To help you understand how a project might fit in with the goals of the strategy we’ve had a look back over some previous City Ambition Fund work:
- A more prosperous Cardiff, such as the Cardiff Wine Passport, driving new customers, and new revenue into local businesses
- A Cardiff of thriving culture and Welsh language, a public art of performance project that helps people in the city better engage with our culture
- A more resilient Cardiff, a bio-diversity project like those delivered by Porters and the Huggard in the past, bringing native planting, and pollinator friendly flowers into the BID area
- A healthier Cardiff, a project like DING! Cycle tours that helps to people get out and about and active in the city
- Your project might even involve more than one of the goals for example our previous Food Cardiff project to sign businesses and consumers up to a range of food Cardiff pledges which between them contribute to building a more prosperous, healthy, and globally responsible Cardiff
How to Apply:
The City Ambition Fund is open for applications from July 8th to August 4th – please apply using this form. We also ask applicants to submit an equal opportunities monitoring form so that we can understand who is applying for this funding. Monitoring forms are collated separately and do not inform the decision making process.
Applications are open to businesses, charities, and individuals and we are particularly interested to see applications from FOR Cardiff members.
To be eligible for funding your project must take place in, or have an impact on, the area which Cardiff city centre represents which is broadly Cardiff city centre. You might have seen communications about FOR Cardiff’s expansion into Cardiff Bay – this is an exciting new phase of our delivery that begins in December 2026, until then our work remains focussed on the city centre.
