From a safe place to go if you’re feeling vulnerable, to people on the streets ready to help, there’s a network of support across Cardiff.

Feeling uncomfortable, vulnerable or unsafe?

Safe Places are businesses and organisations across Cardiff where you can go for help.

You can use a Safe Place to:

• Take a moment somewhere safe
• Ask someone for help
• Call a friend or family member
• Ask for a taxi
• Charge your phone
• Contact emergency services if you need to

LOOK OUT FOR OUR TAXI MARSHALS

Busy nights mean busy streets, and getting home safely is part of the night out.

FOR Cardiff supports Taxi Marshals who help manage taxi queues, support vulnerable people and help keep the city centre moving safely at busy times.

They’re there to help make getting home safer and more straightforward, particularly during the busiest periods.

THE SAFETY BUS

A SAFE SPACE WHEN YOU NEED IT

Out in Cardiff and something hasn’t gone to plan?

The Cardiff Safety Bus provides welfare support and a safe space for people who find themselves vulnerable during a night out.

The service operates during night-time economy hours, including student nights, weekends and major city events.

The bus can provide essentials such as:

• First aid
• Water
• Phone charging
• Welfare support
• Help getting home
• Signposting to further support

The Safety Bus is available to everyone, not just students.

A SIMPLE QUESTION CAN HELP

If you’re in a bar, restaurant or other participating venue and something doesn’t feel right, you can discreetly ask staff:

“Is Angela here?”

Ask for Angela is a safeguarding initiative that gives people a simple way to ask trained venue staff for help if they feel unsafe, uncomfortable or threatened.

FOR Cardiff supports the scheme across Cardiff and launched the city’s bilingual Welsh-language version of Ask for Angela.

WOMEN’S SAFETY

MAKING CARDIFF SAFER FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS

FOR Cardiff’s Women’s Safety Charter brings businesses together to take practical action to make Cardiff safer for women and girls.

The Cardiff charter is designed to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, recognising that safety matters at every time of day — not just on a night out.

Participating businesses commit to practical measures that help create safer environments for their customers, colleagues and communities.

CARDIFF AGAINST BUSINESS CRIME

A CITY THAT LOOKS OUT FOR ITSELF

Keeping Cardiff safe isn’t just about what happens on the streets.

Cardiff Against Business Crime (CABC) brings businesses together with South Wales Police and other partners to share information, respond to incidents and tackle issues such as theft, anti-social behaviour and repeat offending.

Its CityNet radio network helps businesses, security teams and police communicate quickly across the city centre.

It’s another way Cardiff’s businesses can look out for each other — and for the people who visit them.
