Cycling Access

Blackweir Events

The cycleways, including the pop-up cycleways within the road closure area, will remain open for cyclists throughout the event.

The North Road cycleway will be temporarily diverted during event set-up and breakdown. On concert days, a short, clearly signposted diversion will be in place using a similar two-way cycle route.

Cycle parking will be available at the Civic Centre.

Castle Events

There are three Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) barriers in place during concert events:

  • At the Castle entrance
  • Near the Holiday Inn Hotel
  • Near the Hilton Hotel on Kingsway

The only cycleway affected is on Castle Street.

The Castle Street cycleway remains open throughout the concert. However, when the concert ends and large numbers of people are leaving the Castle grounds, event staff will be positioned at both ends of the cycleway. Cyclists may be asked to slow down or dismount and walk their bikes through the area to help keep everyone safe during the busy exit period.
