Explore the science of the Sun at National Museum Cardiff
Budding scientists won’t want to miss Rap Science with Jon Chase at National Museum Cardiff on Friday 8 August.
Combining music, comedy and fascinating science, author and presenter Jon Chase brings the story of the Sun to life through energetic raps and interactive demonstrations. Families will discover how the Sun was formed, why it’s considered a dwarf despite its enormous size, and why the sunlight reaching Earth is much older than you might think.
The show takes place from 10:30am–1pm, with tickets priced at £8 for adults and £7 for children.
While you’re there, make time to experience Helios, the spectacular large-scale artwork currently on display at the museum, offering a stunning new perspective on our nearest star.
Meet your favourite characters at St David’s
Looking for a free activity? Head to St David’s Dewi Sant every Wednesday throughout the summer holidays for their popular Character Kids Meet & Greets.
Little ones can meet some of their favourite characters, making it the perfect excuse for a family day in the city centre.

Strike up some family fun at Hollywood Bowl XL
Newly opened at St David’s, Hollywood Bowl XL is now the largest entertainment centre in Cardiff.

Take on the free Museum of Cardiff trail
If you’re searching for a free activity, the Museum of Cardiff is hosting the Lotta and Lola Museum Trail from 22 August to 12 September (closed Sundays).
Inspired by the new Pudding Now Please book series from Charlie and Lola creator Lauren Child, the trail invites children to help Lotta and Lola collect kind and useful words while exploring the museum.
Suitable for children aged 4+, every completed trail earns a free sticker, making it a great way to combine learning and fun.
